I've waited for about two weeks to find an excuse to repost a Tinie Tempah song, and OH HAI~~ Lookie here!! WONDERMAN SONG 8D Anyway, I hope you all party responsibly and wear diapers for those just in case moments when pedobear pops out of the bushes. And for those who were looking for a nice song to jam to for this occasion, I hope this song helps :)
I am not too sure what I want to say about this person actually. Her songs are catchy, but I really don't understand how she's ridiculously popular. Like all of her hit songs range anywhere from 10 million views to 25 million yet everyone of them almost sound the same and very bland. I don't mean I hate her songs, but sometimes it just really BLASTS my mind how as long as you can market someone really well, they don't even need to have a talent. And if you're still staring at her boobs while trying to focus on what I'm typing, my point is exactly proven LOL. But credit still has to be given where it's due, I believe her voice (after some tuning) does sound pretty amazing for somewhat electro vocal-trancey kind of songs. I really enjoyed her song Heartbreaker for some reason, something about Will.I.Am is just freakishly annoying but unique. Let me know what you guys think about Cheryl Cole :P
Note: For those who are having trouble viewing youtube videos due to certain regulations in their country, I will most definitely start posting the songs on soundcloud after this post :)
I honestly don't think Mark Ronson really has a genre, his style is very unique. This guy plays with a lot of sounds and creates really funky jazzy sounds while throwing in some nice electric sounds too. Being a Grammy award winning English DJ, you can definitely expect some really nice songs from him. Expect me to post more songs by him in the future :) For this song you can tell from the lyrics and music video that he really incorporated some French and Japanese culture into this song. The chorus makes references to the French Nursery rhyme "Alouette" and the music video concept makes references to the good old retro Japanese commercials with all those cool A.D.D transformation stuff and etc. Anyway, enough description, listen to the song and enjoy :)
(If you really like Mark Ronson and would like to support this artist, you can purchase his album Record Collection on amazon)
These guys are absolutely amazing, Audio Shaman consists of two Australian musicians who basically travel around the world and take these different influences from other cultures and make music out of them. As you can tell ,there's flamenco guitar in here and it's just beautifully done. They incorporate natural sounds such as waves to add a different feel to their music too. I would highly recommend their album if you want a real nice musical journey with the flamenco guitar complemented by some chillout electronic beats.
(If you like the artists Audio Shaman, you can support them by purchasing their audio CD album Cityzen on amazon or by mp3 download)
All I can say is when it comes to anything, the Japanese just do it well and even better than the original. I am a real fan of Jazz and love their style. The collaboration with Shiina Ringo is truly awesome too, she has quite the unique voice which can fit into many many genres, especially Jazz. The song instantly starts off strong with the saxophone and then builds the rhythm with the piano as Shiina Ringo's voice perfects the song, really hope you guys enjoy this one!
Genre: Alternative Rock, Alternative Metal, Hard Rock, Nu Metal
Since I posted about Coheed and Cambria, thought I'd share another rock song but this time a little more slow :) The song starts off slow with mainly vocals and some guitar, then it keeps building and building. Definitely a band worth checking out since they're quite versatile. Let me know what you think :D
(If you like Sick Puppies and would like to support the band, you can purchase their album Tri-Polar on amazon)
Unfortunately I don't have a lot of awesome rock songs in my repertoire but I have to say Coheed and Cambria is one of the bands that really stand out in my music library. The intro riff of this song is just freakishly amazing. At first I didn't like the guy's voice so much but it really does grow on you eventually. Anyway, there isn't much to hate about this song, amazing guitar, amazing progression, amazing everything. Even if you don't like rock, you still have to appreciate the epic guitar :P
(If you like Coheed and Cambria and would like to support the band, you can purchase their album Year of the Black Rainbow on amazon)
Sorry for not posting this earlier, but this is the singer I was referring to who had the really insanely unique and creepy voice from my Chungking post.. I am actually quite confused about how he isn't famous anymore because he is probably the only guy I know who can sing incredibly high notes with such control. Vitas is actually a Russian pop singer who, after people knew about his voice, started performing at big music halls while signing classical songs such as Ave Maria.
Anyway, you should definitely check out this video, he basically sings with essentially no lyrics, but the octave slowly progresses higher and higher until you realize how amazing he is
(If you'd like to support this artist, you can purchase his album Mother / Mama on amazon)
P.S. Does anyone think he's probably the only guy who can actually PASS as being some sort of vampire? you see all these vampire teenage shows where the guys just have intense powder and make up, but this man is actually pale as hell.
I think this band has been around for a while now. With every album release they really change up their style. Perfect symmetry's by far my favorite one. I do remember they had a really old song called "Bedshaped" that was later sung by an Italian opera singer during the Miss Universe competition. My god did it sound epic. Maybe I'll share that another time ;D Anyway, hope you enjoy this song, it sounds very offbeat and semi funky!
(If you like this song and support that artists, you can purchase the online MP3 download Spiralling or their album Perfect Symmetry on amazon.)
Note: just in case anyone was wondering, in order to ensure your music pleasure, I only use Soundcloud when the song quality isn't good enough on Youtube or if can't find the right version. So at times the format of the post might change depending on the song.
Note within a Note: I do realize it's supposed to be spelled Spiraling, but the album spelled it this way so HA!
While I was on my search to add more chillout lounge music into my music library, I happen to come across this British Indie Pop group. All I can say is that this woman has a really really airy voice that sounds almost like a siren that's either trying to lure you in or creep you out. Another reason why I wanted to share this song was because the beat is just real funky :D Anyway, let me know what you think!!
(If you like the Chungking, you can support them buy purchasing their album The Hungry Years or their latest album Stay Up Forever on amazon.)
Note: Speaking of unique voices, I shall share a really cool singer for my next post which I guarantee will fascinate and weird you out so stay tuned!!
Urban Species is actually a British hip hop band in the late 90's. This song in particular with Imogen Heap was actually made in 1998. It's actually a really old track but my god does it have such a nice beat. The collaboration just works so well together. Took me quite a while to find this song but glad to be able to share it now :)
(I highly recommend this album, turns out a lot of people play this at bars and lounges to set the environment. If you'd like to support this artist, you can purchase his album Blanket on amazon.)
**On another note, I'd like to thank all of you who have been visiting my blog, I am truly happy to know that there are people who have similar music tastes as I do. I highly encourage you to comment and let me know what kind of songs you want to hear, improvements you want to see on this site (like what should I do with my layout?), or anything else that's on your mind! I actually do read every comment :) My apologies if me not replying makes me seem like a stalker, but ya, if there are actually questions I will definitely answer them! and finally, spread the word about this blog if you'd like to share the love and have other people listen to awesome music too, not the usual repetitive sounds on the radio!
I have actually never heard of this trio but apparently they've been around for a while. If you'd like to support them, purchase Finger & Thumbs on amazon :)
My apologies for posting less frequently, midterm season's approaching and I shall be a little slower than usual. Hopefully you guys can still check out the old songs in the archives and recommend it to some friends and spread the love!
For all those who listen to trance or really hate trance, I'm pretty sure not a lot of you have heard of this Israeli trance duo. Trance these days are way too mainstream in the sense that it's got the usual formula where you have a bit of this, and then bridge and chorus then rinse and repeat. This is kind of the "classical" music kind of trance where they really just keep building up the sounds one after the other. Even if you really don't like trance, if you like some sick guitar riffs, I highly recommend this song in particular, their latest songs have been experimenting with rock more and it sounds pretty awesome to me :P They are actually the most experimental group I've seen who keep trying out different sounds to truly try to psych your brain out. A very different experience if you just listen to it on the headphones.
(If you like what you hear, then support these artists by purchasing their album (my favorite too) Vicious Delicious on amazon)
Surprisingly I found this song off some gaming forum that just happen to have had a music section :P Anyway, it's got a really relaxing melody to it and I hope you like it! and the video looks pretty funky, lots of women in pin-up style costumes :P
(If you like the song and want to support the artist, then you can purchase their album Sun Comes Up Again on amazon)
I can't seem to remember when I came across this song, but they really reminded me of The Killers, One Republic, and a bit of Coldplay. But anyway, I really hope this band makes it big one day, their album is actually pretty good and has a lot of variety, worth the listen if you like this song.
(The songs are posted for promotional purposes only, If you'd like to support the artists then you can purchase their album Black Swan on amazon.)
Note: I've realized that I haven't been posting a lot of Rock or Trance songs, so if there are any other genre's you might want to listen to, let me know and I'll try to find some good ones and post them up!
She is by far my FAVORITE female artist ever. Her style's really unique and her songs are real uplifting and catchy. Even though it says her genre is R&B, a lot of the songs on her album sound different from one another. This is truly music gone right :P Her music videos are really amazing, makes a lot of references to film art and etc. Her dancing's real funky too. You have to check her out! I rarely ever post the stream with a video, but Janelle's an exception! 8D
Janelle Monae - Many Moons:
Edit: My mind is blown, I just found a collaboration of my favorite artists in one song! it's the remix of the one I just posted.
Ingrid Michaelson was the reason why I decided to listen to more Indie music. I was first exposed to indie music when I heard her song "The Way I am" back in high school :D I really like her songs because each album release shows her trying to explore new styles. I think the best thing about her is the fact that she looks so geeky but when she actually makes-up, she looks amazing :D Anyway, check out this happy song and tell me what you think :)
Note: Apologies if soundcloud is acting weird. The song will be functioning soon :D
So recently I've been posting a good amount of relaxing classical music. This time I've decided to share an upbeat instrumental with you all :) This composer's orchestra usually had a HUGE variety of instruments and plays the most upbeat music ever. Going to his concert is more or less watching an "America's got talent" competition for musicians. You will know exactly what I mean after you watch this video, everyone's playing at rapid speeds trying to match with the rhythm of the electronic beat in the background and it's just amazing!
Edit: I've just noticed that the violinist Samvel Yervinyan looks just like Xerxes from 300 except this time Yanni isn't holding a spear and getting ready to throw it at him, NEVERTHELESS he is the master of the fiddlestick so it should be no problem anyway, he'd catch it with his gaze. But anyway, doesn't he look like him? Anyone? anyone? LOL
Nowadays it seems like the music industry's moving to the really electro-pop-ish dance songs that everyone wants to listen to in clubs. The only problem is that most of these songs seem rushed or incomplete and don't have that perfect feel-good to it. Good examples are like those usual songs about getting drunk at clubs and etc. But Ollie Wride is nothing like that! They have this 70's feel to it that's full of high energy. This one feels better orchestrated and very good for dancing, maybe if we had more songs like these you wouldn't have creepy guys at clubs that only think about getting some but instead just want to have fun :P
I believe this man used to be a scientist or physicist of some sort and just decided that he loved singing. So here he is, with awesome funky music :) I believe he actually did get some publicity when one of his songs was featured in Grey's Anatomy, but aside from that, he's more popular in the UK but slowly making his way to North America. One thing I really like about him is that a lot of his songs have different styles, and especially his music videos are quite experimental and also artsy cool. So ya, have a listen and tell me what you think! I really enjoy funky music like this, just gets you in the mood to be a happy happy joy joy jolly giant :D
Normally the Folk genre doesn't get much exposure here in North America, but this man managed to have his song "Like a Hobo" make it to the top charts in France. A lot of his songs are about current social issues like poverty and etc. So it's really nice to listen to something fresh for a change from the usual "Bang bang bang, I have pig benis, I have lots of money, You don't know me, This is my history, I club everyday and treat women like objects TEEHEE" and etc. But ya, check it out and let me know what you think :)
Normally I'd post the song on soundcloud, but this video is way too cool to pass up :)
I was lucky enough to randomly stumble upon this album. At first I thought it was just some random classical music album. But it turned out to be Chris Botti, a famous trumpeter. He's basically the Joshua Bell of Trumpet. For those who don't know, Joshua Bell is an insanely famous violinist. But anyway, I hope you like this video :) This song is absolutely amazing, for some reason it reminds me of Lord of the rings or anything epic during a post-battle scene! amirite?! :D
This artist is really amazing. He's kind of like B.O.B, they can both sing and rap really well. At first he did some acting, but now he's ridiculously famous and making a lot of hit songs. This artist has actually been working non-stop and recording a bunch of songs. For those who don't know him, you should check out his old songs such as "Best I ever Had" or "Over." Anyway, for those who are familiar with him, I've decided to hook you up with his songs that will most likely be released for his next album. Don't be surprised if you might hear this on the radio :)
Just so I don't only seem to post classical music and mainstream, I thought I'd share some nice indie music as well. This Indie band actually won the Mercury award from the UK and I believe their album is really nice. It's got a very chillout electric feel to it that's very good for just relaxing. I would definitely recommend giving them a try, I honestly think you should listen to the whole album in sequence to really get the feel of their style, but Crystalised is a good start :) Surprisingly I've only known about this group after my Psychology professor was blasting their song at 9am before the lecture started, quite uplifting. So if you really like this song, you should try listening to some other ones on their myspace.
Anyway, hope you're all open to indie music and enjoy!
Note: Apologies if soundcloud isn't working as of now, it should be fixed shortly.
I've realized that a lot of you enjoy the classical music that I post up here, so here's another one that I've always listened to since childhood. I don't seem to know the artist or how this album came about, but it is actually really old. I just remember my mom playing it for me one time when my thoughts were a mess and this instantly calmed me down. I just love how they incorporated nature sounds with classical music, so soothing and calming :)
PS. For those who are unfamiliar with the genre of New Age, Wikipedia says:
Alright, I don't think much introduction is required for this awesome rapper. All I can say about this artist is that I did not like the song that got him his fame (Day'N'Night) because it doesn't sem to do his image justice, but other than that, I freakin love his songs, they are quite metaphorical and very open to interpretaton. If you really like this one you should also try listening to "Man on the Moon." I really can't wait for his upcoming album and here's a sneak peek :)
Ryuichi Sakamoto's song is truly one of the classics that everyone must hear. I mean even if you hate classical music you can't possibly dislike this, it's one of those songs you listen to and just want to fall asleep and dream, like any Christmas evenings when the magic was still there. I really hope you guys enjoy this song and perhaps have a new perspective for classical music too :)
I can't stress enough about how awesome classical music is. It's probably one of the only genres of music that still requires "active" listening at all times since the sounds you hear are usually strung together differently every time. It really grinds my gears when big movie corporations take a perfectly nice classical piece and insert it into something completely messed up like DeBussy's Claire de Lune in Twilight. I mean the song did not strengthen that particular scene in anyway and was literally wasted. RAAAAAAAAAGEEEEEE. But anyway, if you're interested some of Sakamoto's works, I highly recommend The Last Emperor, by far the most epic Asian classical music ever!
Lupe Fiasco is by far one of my favorite rappers. He focuses more on the lyrics than the beat. The lyrics are usually metaphorical and quite philosophical. This man is actually more concerned about spreading the message than fame and fortune. He actually turned down Jay-Z's offer to sign him when he had the opportunity. I think the most interesting info about him is that he's a major geek, he loves gaming and Japanese anime and stuff :P But enough about him, just listen and enjoy :)
Note: Since I'm posting about hip hop/rap, for those who liked Tinie Tempah and would like to support him, his debut album "Disc-overy" is going to be released on Oct. 4th. I have heard about half of it and the songs are quite good :D
I believe Kylie Minogue is one of the most overlooked artists in North America. I am surprised that she hasn't made it to the mainstream music scene since a lot of the songs we hear now seem to emulate her style. If you look at her older albums and work, you may see where Lady Gaga might have pulled some of her material from. Hearing her stuff brings me back to the old old radio days when her hit "Love at first sight" was catchy and made random people in public dance :D Anyway, if you really like the kind of feel good dance/pop songs then I highly recommend her album Aphrodite!
One more thing I'd like to add is the fact that she is, in my opinion, one of the most attractive women ever (in her younger days). I was watching an old TV show that had her cameo and that was when I fell in love AT FIRST SIGHT? EH??!? EHH?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!??!!? EHEHEHEHE?!?!?!@#?!@#. Unfortunately back in those days celebrities didn't have a myriad of pictures taken on them for publicity and stuff compared to now. So hopefully the picture I posted did some justice, even though you can't see her face, so I guess it remains a mystery... just like the beauty of APHRODITE?? EH?!!?1? EHH!?!?!? EHEHEHEHE??!@#)(!@$!#$!#?
